Good manners and conduct in the campus
- Students are expected to be cleanly and suitably dressed in their class as well as at any gathering within the college premises. Women students should particularly observe strict modesty in dress.
- When a student meets a member of the teaching staff of the college within the campus or outside, it is a matter of politeness that he/she should greet him/her.
- When a teacher enters a class, the students must keep standing until the teacher has invited them to sit down or he/she himself/ herself occupied his/her seat.
- Students should keep with them texts and note books required for the classes they attend.
- No student shall leave the classroom during a lecture without the permission of the teacher.
- Loitering through the corridors, hooting in the class rooms and other undesirable activities which disturb the calm atmosphere of the college are strictly forbidden.
- Absolute obedience is expected from every student. If anyone tries to defy the authority of the principal or any teacher he/she will be punished.
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in the college campus.
- Students are forbidden to attend or organise any meeting in the college or to collect money for any purpose without the permission of the Principal. They should not circulate among the students any notice of petition or paste it anywhere in the college premises without any written sanction of the Principal. Political activism is strictly banned in the campus. Students resorting to strikes are strictly prohibited from entering the verandah of the building or the class rooms.
- Students are not allowed to make a complaint in a body or to address any authority in collective petition. Such combined action is subversive of good order. They should always be respectful to seniors and superiors, polite and courteous to all, ready to oblige and show themselves lovers of good order and decorum.
- Habitual negligence in college work, dishonesty, obscenity in word or any other acts of misconduct will involve severe disciplinary action.
- Students are forbidden from making any mark on the furniture or on the walls of the college. If any student damages or destroys any college property he/she will have to pay the cost of repair.
- Students are expected to maintain decency and decorum in dress and behaviour.
- Smoking, chewing, snuffing and other unhealthy practices are strictly prohibited in the campus.
- Use of cell phone is strictly prohibited in the campus.
- As per the order of the Honourable High Court of Kerala W.A. No.535/2003 dt. 26/05/2003, any student involved in ragging activities will be expelled from the college.
- Any student who is persistently insubordinate, who is repeatedly or wilfully mischievous, who is guilty of fraud or malpractice in connection with examinations or who, in the opinion of the Principal, is likely to have an unwholesome influence on his fellow students, shall be removed from the rolls. The removal shall be temporary or permanent according to the gravity of the offence.
Good manners and conduct in the campus
All students admitted to the college shall keep with them their identity cards, with recent passport size photograph, duly attested by the Principal. All payments, issue of certificates etc. will be made to the students only on production of their identity cards. The students shall produce their identity card as and when the teaching staff, office staff or any other members of the college service demand it.
Any tampering or disfiguring made on identity cards will be considered as a serious offence. Such identity cards will be cancelled and no new cards will be issued. In case an original identity card has been irrecoverably lost, a duplicate card will be issued, only after completing the procedure usually followed in the college. Fine for duplicate identity card is Rs. 30/-. The identity card shall be surrendered in the office at the time of issue of transfer certificate or on the completion of the course whichever is earlier.
Attendance
- The teacher will mark attendance at the beginning of each period. The students are required to be in their places at the beginning of each class.
- A student who is not in the class when the attendance is taken shall be marked absent.
- Late comers shall not enter the class without the permission of the teacher.
- A teacher shall however mark a student coming late present after dealing with him/her as he/she thinks fit.
- No student will be allowed to leave the class during class hours without the permission of the Head of the Institution.
- No student shall be absent from the class without leave. Application for leave shall be submitted in the prescribed form one day in advance or on the day the student rejoins the college.
- All applications for leave from students will be entertained only if they are countersigned by the parent and recommended by the group tutor concerned. Applications for leave, in the case of degree students shall be forwarded by the respective Head of Department also.
- If the period of leave applied for, exceeds 5 days he/she shall produce a medical certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner, on the day before or after the period of leave. Medical certificates submitted later will not be accepted.
- If a student is absent from the class without leave for more than 10 days, his/her name shall be removed from the rolls. He/she may however be re-admitted after furnishing sufficient reasons.
- At the end of each term or at the beginning of the following term, a list will be put up on the General Notice Board, showing the number of days of attendance lost by each student till then.
- Absence from class for an hour will be considered as absence for the concerned session
- The Annual Certificate for Attendance and Progress required for promotion and for admission to the University Examination will not be granted unless-
- a) The student has atleast 75% of the attendance prescribed by the University for the Course.
- b) The student has completed the course of instruction to the satisfaction of the authorities.
- c) His/her progress in studies and conduct has been satisfactory.
- Students whose attendance falls below the prescribed minimum shall apply for exemption through the Principal before 28th/29th February each year. The application in the prescribed form shall be accompanied by a chalan receipt for Rs.50/- upto 20 days and Rs.30/- upto 10 days.
- Exemption will not be granted by the University, if the shortage of attendance exceeds 22 days. No exemption will be granted more than once during a course. No application for exemption will be recommended more than once during a course. No application for exemption will be recommended by the Principal unless he/she is satisfied that the shortage of attendance was due to a cause beyond the student’s control. Ordinarily, long continued illness will be accepted as a plea for shortage of attendance. Absence without leave application will not be condoned under any circumstance.
Examinations and Test Papers
- The primary purpose of examinations and test papers is to evaluate the work of the students and also to give them training.
- Exemption from attendance at examinations and test papers is granted only by the principal.
- Malpractice in test papers and examinations will be regarded as a serious breach of discipline.
- The Group Tutors shall maintain the records of grades and weightage achieved by each student in the various examinations, class tests, submission of assignments and seminars.
- College scholarships/prizes/concessions etc. will be awarded only to those students who appear for the terminal examinations and test papers of the college.
Excursions, Picnics and Study Tours
- Students are not permitted to organise or conduct excursions, or picnics without knowledge and consent of the Principal and Department Heads.
- Study tours will be organised by respective Departments.
- Only final year students will be permitted to go on excursions and tours.
- Written consent in the prescribed form should be obtained from the guardians by all students going on excursion.
- A detailed programme of travel, stay, places of visit, names of participants etc, should be submitted to the Principal before proceeding on a tour/excursion.
- No student from another class will be permitted to join a class going on excursion.
- There should be a minimum of two teachers (one male and one female) to accompany each team.
- Excursions, Picnics and Tours will be allowed only during the third term of the academic year.
